Below is a picture of the great British actor, Nicol Williamson, as MERLIN, the leftover Druid wizard, in the Arthurian film, EXCALIBUR. He is an important figure in this matrix of entropy, for he could recognize the Dragon. He was so great that Nobel Laureates for Literature, playwrights Samuel Beckett and Harold Pinter thought he was the world’s greatest living actor, as did literary legend, John Osborne.
This Blogger was dating a British girl, from a fallen aristocratic money; oh, they still had wealth, but had fallen from fun. They only knew decadence; they had forgotten the joy of wiggling one’s toes; and the benefit of not being stalked by raptors, or saber tooth tigers or piranha.
She inveigled this Blogger to see Williamson as HAMLET on Broadway; it was the greatest performance this Blogger had ever seen, and remains so to this day.
She was privy to British gossip; how Williamson and gorgeous Helen Mirren had had a tempestuous affair while appearing on stage in MACBETH, which had ended badly. And how they now detested each other.
When the film EXCALIBUR was being cast, the Director cast Williamson as MERLIN and over his objections, Helen Mirren, as MORGANA, MERLIN’S nemesis. The Director’s rationale was that their mutual hatred would be so vivid, it would set the screen on fire.
In the film, MERLIN talks about the DRAGON.
"Merlin: Look into the eyes of the dragon and despair!
Merlin: What are you afraid of?
Arthur: I don't know.
Merlin: Shall I tell you what's out there?
Arthur: Yes, please.
Merlin: The Dragon. A beast of such power that if you were to see it whole and all complete in a single glance, it would burn you to cinders.
Arthur: Where is it?
Merlin: It is everywhere! It is everything! Its scales glisten in the bark of trees, its roar is heard in the wind! And its forked tongue strikes like... like...
[lightning strikes near their feet]
Merlin: Whoa! Like lightning! Yes, that's it.”
MERLIN is not discussing a literal dragon, but a figuratively one; of such power, it can burn society to cinders.
And what is that DRAGON?
The cumulative rage of the people who work in the shops, on the farms, in the lumber camps, on the fishing fleets, in the oil fields, in the factories, the warehouses, the shops, the plants, the streets, the barracks, the salons, on the ranches, and on the construction sites.
What are they raging against?
Antonio Gramsci’s “cultural hegemony.”
This Blogger’s father was a dedicated Trotskyite, a great follower of Marxist theorists.
Mr. Gramsci was an Italian Marxist, who made a brave attempt to explain the lack of a worldwide revolution by the working classes against the Elite; he thought the revolution would never happen because the Elite controlled the cultural norms; by the Elitist domination of the Media, Films, Art, Theater, television, Streaming, Charities, Foundations, Academia, TWITTER, FACEBOOK, it could alter cultural norms at whim.
“Cultural hegemony refers to domination or rule maintained through ideological or cultural means. It is usually achieved through social institutions, which allow those in power to strongly influence the values, norms, ideas, expectations, worldview, and behavior of the rest of society.
Cultural hegemony functions by framing the worldview of the ruling class, and the social and economic structures that embody it, as just, legitimate, and designed for the benefit of all, even though these structures may only benefit the ruling class. This kind of power is distinct from rule by force, as in a military dictatorship, because it allows the ruling class to exercise authority using the "peaceful" means of ideology and culture.
These institutions do the work of socializing people into the norms, values, and beliefs of the dominant social group. As such, the group that controls these institutions controls the rest of society.
Cultural hegemony is most strongly manifested when those ruled by the dominant group come to believe that the economic and social conditions of their society are natural and inevitable, rather than created by people with a vested interest in particular social, economic, and political orders….thought.”
The key to cultural hegemony is the ability of the Elite to inculcate into the traditional values based working class, that social engineering is ‘NATURAL AND INEVITABLE.”
Or as the Elite declaim, “the right side of history.”
However, in 2022, the Elite's malfeasance in administering the nuances of cultural hegemony has been laid bare; the Elite, in arrogance and isolated insulation, has transformed cultural hegemony into social engineering, constantly trying to strip the working class of traditional values. Oblivious to the dangers of a woke Dragon, the Elite has gratuitously pushed the envelope on social engineering, beyond the limits of cultural hegemony, into the realm of blood sacrifice to the vengeful Dragon.
Karey Burke has been President of DISNEY GENERAL ENTERTAINMENT since 2020.
“During the company-wide Zoom call on Monday, March 28, Burke revealed that the “Don’t Say Gay” bill issue is really close to her heart because she is a mother of two “Queer” children and it was her responsibility to stand up for the people from LGBTQ+ community. She said, “I'm here as the mother of two queer children, actually, one transgender child and one pansexual child, and also as a leader. I have heard so much from so many of my colleagues over the past few weeks in open forums, through emails, and through phone conversations. I feel a responsibility to speak not just for myself but also for [my kids].” MEAWW Entertainment.”
Ms. Burke is practicing Elitist cultural hegemony at its most blatant, and dismissive of the Dragon; because she has a transgender child, the whole entertainment culture of representation must change to accommodate her parental feelings.
That is dangerous, for it pokes the Dragon awake ; and what is the Dragon?
In a recent column, Maureen Dowd quoted the Berkeley thinker Jaron Lanier.
“Jaron Lanier, known as the father of virtual reality, to ask him about this.
……..He shared his philosophy that, through history, when politics, culture and technology get too fancy and theoretical, they tend to lose staying power and brutality breaks through.
“The Bolsheviks had this tremendously sophisticated, fancy rhetoric and all of these complicated ideas,” Lanier said. “They were building their own socioeconomics. Then, basically what happened is, Stalin came in and said, ‘No, it’s really just about violence and domination, and screw all that.’
“I think the current wave of populism has that character,” Lanier added. “The ever finer gradations of thought on all kinds of issues, like gender and intersectionality and this theory and that theory, it’s so sophisticated that it requires a lot of patience. It’s too inbred to be robust. So this very crude thing comes in.
“There’s more and more sophisticated talk about how we’re going to do blockchain, nonfungible tokens and cryptocurrencies, with contracts built in in its algorithms. I’m personally of the belief that this very fancy approach to technology is headed in the same direction as cultures or politics that get too fancy and too full of themselves.
“Basically, the Russians came in and said, ‘Screw all of your ideas. We’re just going to brutally take this stuff over and use it for power.’….“I think ideals are great, but idealists who get too involved with their own sense of getting more sophisticated to perfect their schemes? I think then it reverts to brutality.”…….New York Times.”
The Dragon is communal violence against the Karey Burkes of the world.
And the Dragon is stirring.
To this Blogger, the key moment of the Judge Brown Jackson Senate Confirmation Hearing ,was when Senator Blackburn of Tennessee, a woman, asked her: “Can you define the word woman?”
Judge Brown Jackson is a graduate of Harvard, and Harvard Law School; alas, she is not a quick thinker. She should have replied: “I am woman, and proud of it.”
Instead, she muttered something about not being a biologist.
The Elitist Media went further in their naïve sophistication, USA TODAY said this : “Scientists, gender law scholars and philosophers of biology said Jackson's response was commendable, though perhaps misleading. It's useful, they say, that Jackson suggested science could help answer Blackburn's question, but they note that a competent biologist would not be able to offer a definitive answer either. Scientists agree there is no sufficient way to clearly define what makes someone a woman, and with billions of women on the planet, there is much variation….USA TODAY.”.
That USA TODAY paragraph is such Elitist sophistry that it cries out for the Dragon to wake and go Stalin on this Elite.
When the Dragon is fully awake, it will unleash a violence which is incomprehensible against the Elite.
And they might get away with it; for in Michigan, a jury acquitted two members of a working-class cabal which plotted to kidnap Governor Whitmer and tie her up for punishment. On two other members, the jury deadlocked, so a mistrial in those cases was declared.
It was a pure case of jury nullification; the jury wanted to send an encouraging message to people who want to do violent things against the Elite, a message to the Dragon.
