A presentiment is a feeling of foreboding about the future. This Blogger has a presentiment about Taiwan, because of the assassination of Shinzo Abe of Japan. Shinzo Abe was a dedicated friend of the United States, a devoted ally of Taiwan and a shrewd opponent of Communist China. He was a towering figure in modern Japanese politics; he was a combination of JFK and Ronald Reagan. He was the youngest Japanese Prime Minister in history; and then after leaving office because of illness, came back to become the longest serving Japanese Prime Minister in History. At his death, he was the éminence grise of Japanese politics and governance; the man, THE MAN, who exercises power behind the scenes, without holding an official position. He was a titan.
