March, 2017 is the 100 th Anniversary of the February  1917, Russian Revolution. How can an event in March be the 100 th Anniversary of an event which occurred in February? Czarist Russia used a Julian Calendar to mark the passing of the days, so events which occurred in February to Russians, happened in March for everyone else. Demonstrations against the Czar began on February 23, 1917(Russian time), in Petrograd(now St. Petersburg), the capital of Czarist Russia. The Czar, Nicholas II, was at the Front, commanding a losing Army, in person. His wife, Czarina Alexandra, was defacto in command in Petrograd. She did not think anything was amiss, how could it be?
