T his Blogger was watching  John Ford's THE LAST HURRAH, starring Spencer Tracy and Jeffrey Hunter; in the film is a lament by an Irish Catholic Cardinal of the Church, about a dim witted, incompetent, brazenly   corrupt Irish politician.   “ CARDINAL-The hope of the future: a mealymouthed maneuverable piece of dough. - Is this the best we can do? …..Is he typical of what we're turning out of our colleges these days?Is he a specimen of this educated young laity I keep hearing so much about,but never seem to encounter? CARDINAL’S AIDE-Typical of some, perhaps.Certainly not the best. CARDINAL-Then where are the best?
