As this Blog is being written, the Israel/HAMAS War has been placed on PAUSE; so selected Israel hostages, taken in the HAMAS October 7th Murder Raid can be exchanged for Palestinian prisoners, held in Israeli jails.
Since the October 7th HAMAS Murder Raid, the world has learned a few things about HAMAS. First, it is the most ruthless terrorist organization, since the Khmer Rouge and that includes the Taliban and ISIS.
Secondly, it is the cleverest, canniest terrorist organization since the heyday of the Irish Republican Army.
In geopolitical, geostrategic terms and in public opinion, HAMAS may have already won the war.
It has galvanized worldwide opinion against Israel; even though HAMAS slaughtered Israeli elders, raped Israeli women, butchered Israeli men and mothers and beheaded Israeli babies in its Murder Raid.
In response, all across the globe, masses of protestors want Israel to accept violation, forcing the world to lament the deaths of Gazan civilians but not the deaths of Israeli civilians.
HAMAS has brilliantly manipulated world opinion, isolating Jewish populations more effectively than any Nazi campaign.
Never, during World War II, did the world cry out for the end of the Allied bombing of Germany, to protect the innocent German civilians. HAMAS has established a new world order of public morality.
HAMAS has established itself as the premiere, perhaps ONLY, Palestinian organization with which Israel can negotiate the Palestinian future. It is not unreasonable to assume, HAMAS will seize control of the West Bank from the Palestinian Authority.
This Blogger thinks that the Israeli government totally and maladroitly handled the Gaza situation since before the beginning of the war, through the PAUSE, the release of the Palestinian prisoners.
The Israeli government botched security before the war, as only friends of Joe Biden could. As Israel was massing overwhelming force, it neglected to give the civilians of Gaza, an off ramp to abandon HAMAS before the war began.
This Blogger would have presented an ultimatum to HAMAS, demanding that it turn over the killers and murderers, rapists and kidnappers of the October 7th Raid. If they did that, Israel would not invade.
HAMAS would not have complied; but the offer itself, and the HAMAS refusal would have caused a rift between the Gaza people and HAMAS. For truly, once HAMAS rejected the off ramp, the war would certainly be laid at their feet.
This Blogger had a French friend; who has died since the beginning of the war. As a para, a paratrooper, he fought in the Battle of Algiers, under Jacques Massu and Marcel Bigeard, defeating the Algerian National Liberation Front in the battle.
He liked American Classical Westerns and had been witness to the filming of the opening scenes of the film, THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN, in Old Tucson.
He had an interesting insight when Israel released the initial number of Israelis killed in the Murder Raid, 1400. He thought Israel would not relent until at least 10 Gazans died for every Israeli killed; he predicted Israeli soldiers would not be satiated, until 14,000 Gazans were killed, 10 to 1, a Biblical equation.
After his death, Israel suddenly, unexpectedly, cut the Murder Raid Death Toll from 1400 to just over 1200; then, as the number of Gazans killed reached 13,000 in the War, the Israelis relented in their ferocity. The late para would have believed that the Israelis began showing compassion; because their down graded Murder Raid Death Toll, allowed them to reach their subliminal Biblical 10 to 1 death goal.
This Blogger is completely bewildered that Israel is releasing West Bank Palestinian prisoners into their homes in West Bank. That just reinforces a potential second front for HAMAS on the West Bank.
The released West Bank Palestinians should be transported to Gaza and released into Gaza, as the Israeli hostages are released into Egypt.

To survive under the pressure of no errors, Israel needs allies, and not just America. Palestinians may never be allies of Israel, but it is well within David Ben-Gurion’s dream that Palestinians can live a benign, dignified, honorable co-existence with a non-expansive Israel.

It is 2023;in this Israel/HAMAS War, HAMAS may have discovered that the current Israeli leadership has run out of Israel’s Founding Father Brilliance, earlier than anticipated.
“Senior commanders refused to heed the warnings of the young female surveillance soldiers tasked with watching the Gaza border in the weeks before the brutal Hamas massacre on October 7, and the soldiers believe sexism was a factor in their being ignored, according to a Friday report.
Rather than hide its plans for the attack, the Hamas terror group was training in plain sight.
....Israel Defense Forces female surveillance soldiers, referred to in Hebrew as tatzpitaniyot, belong to the Border Defense Corps and operate along the country’s borders, as well as throughout the West Bank.
The surveillance soldiers are referred to by many as “the eyes of the army” as they provide real-time intelligence information to soldiers in the field, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
For weeks before Hamas’s October 7 onslaught — when thousands of terrorists streamed over the border, killed some 1,200 people, the majority of them civilians, and kidnapping some 240 more — surveillance soldiers reported signs of activity along the tumultuous Gaza border, situated a kilometer from them.
One of the soldiers, identified only as Ilana, told Haaretz that troops observed Hamas terrorists training to take over an observation post amid unusually high drone activity.
“In the last two months, they started sending up drones every day, sometimes several times a day, right near the border, some 300 meters from the fence, and sometimes less than that,” she said.
“A month and a half before the war, we saw that in one of the Hamas training camps they had built an exact, scaled model of an observer’s position, like the one we operate. They started training there with drones to hit the [machine gun] shooter,” Ilana said.
She said the soldiers sent a warning up the chain of command that Hamas was training for an attack, but they were ignored.
Ilana said that when the attack started, terrorists used drones to hit their positions using the same methods as they had been observed training.
Another unnamed soldier said she had seen Gazans building an exact replica of a Merkava Mark 4 tank and using it for training.
Friday’s report said that nobody alerted the surveillance soldiers to warnings by senior security officials for a potential infiltration into the border communities.
“If we had known about this warning, this whole disaster would have looked different,” said a soldier identified as Yaara. “No one told us that there was such a high level of vigilance.”
“The IDF left us like sitting ducks,” said Yaara. “The fighters at least had weapons and were killed like heroes. The female surveillance soldiers were abandoned by the army and simply slaughtered without having any chance to defend themselves.”
The report even quoted one of the surveillance soldiers apologizing for waking a commander in the early hours of October 7 to report that she was seeing “something strange.”
…Haaretz also said that many of the soldiers who survived the massacre have been told they will face sanctions for desertion if they don’t return to their posts. Many of the soldiers are dealing with severe trauma, having survived an assault in which friends and colleagues were massacred when Hamas terrorists overran the bases.
“We tried to explain that we can’t go back,” said a soldier identified as May. “We lost our friends. For hours we hid with corpses.”
“The commanders have not visited us. No one from the army has come to talk to us and ask how we feel. Our existence is simply ignored,” she said.
In response, the military said it had been providing support to the soldiers.

“TEL AVIV — Did Israel’s security chiefs brush off warnings from women border surveillance soldiers who had evidence that something was brewing in Gaza ahead of the murderous attacks by Hamas militants on October 7?
That’s the explosive accusation coming from several soldiers in Israel’s predominantly female border surveillance forces — known as the tatzpitaniyot, or look-outs in Hebrew. The soldiers are telling the media their superiors did not heed warnings of unusual activity inside Gaza, such as Palestinian guerrillas training with explosives or rehearsing attacks on a replica tank and a mock observation post.
Their statements to the media are piling pressure on the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is facing a firestorm over last month’s catastrophic intelligence blunder. The country’s fabled spy services ultimately failed to detect an impending Hamas onslaught, in which an estimated 3,000 Palestinian fighters killed some 1,200 Israelis and abducted about 240.
In addition to the implications of sexism, the charges feed a sense that Netanyahu and his security services were complacent, believing they had nothing to fear from Hamas in Gaza. Netanyahu’s opponents even argue he was actively boosting Hamas in Gaza, with support from Qatar, in a risky game of “divide-and-rule” that played the Islamists off against the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank.
The women’s warnings, made over several months, did not correspond to the received wisdom that Hamas had been tamed. In what may transpire to be another major mistake in a series of cascading errors, the women say mainly male top commanders dismissed their concerns, insisted Hamas had no plans to go to war, and ordered them to stop being so alarmist.
Known as the “eyes of the army,” the tatzpitaniyot use security cameras and sensors to monitor a 15 to 30 kilometer stretch of land they’re each responsible for. The surveillance includes any small changes in activity, including farmers altering their routines. The work requires great patience, concentration and hours spent monitoring screens.
The tatzpitaniyot, especially those at a base in Nahal Oz, one of several kibbutzim overrun on October 7, reported unusual signs along the Gaza border. The activity was not just minor, and included Hamas sending up drones several times a day in the weeks leading up to the attack.
….The interviews are adding to claims last month by two women surveillance soldiers, Yael Rotenberg and Maya Desiatnik, who told Kan that in the months before the attack, they had flagged a lot of border behavior that worried them. Both were based at Nahal Oz, where 20 tatzpitaniyot were killed on October 7. Desiatnik was one of only two surveillance soldiers at the base on the day who was not killed or abducted.
“It’s infuriating. We saw what was happening, we told them about it, and we were the ones who were murdered,” she said.
One of the reasons the tatzpitaniyot were dismissed was that they “did not fit into the narrative that Hamas had evolved from being a revolutionary movement and had moderated and become more institutionalized and pragmatic,” said Michael Milshtein, head of the Department for Palestinians Affairs in Israel’s Defense Intelligence agency.
Milshtein faulted Netanyahu not only for misjudging Hamas, but also for allowing Qatar to channel hundreds of millions of dollars over the years to Gaza, much of it likely spent on the faction’s military wing. (Netanyahu himself told a Likud party conference in 2019 that “anyone who wants to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state needs to support strengthening Hamas.”)

Israel has learned what America is learning under Joe Biden; no State, certainly no democracy, regardless of how rich, how powerful, how righteous, can survive stupid Leadership.
