As this Blog is being written, Israeli authorities are confirming that over 700 Israelis have been killed; since HAMAS invaded Israel, on October 7, 2023, from its home base, in Gaza. HAMAS attacked Israel on the 50th anniversary of the beginning of the Yom Kippur war; the war which began when Egypt and Syria surprised a confident Israel, with a widespread attack.
The 700 dead in two days is equal to 33,000 Americans dead in two days of fighting on American soil; that is American Civil War proportions.
Under the cover of a massive aerial assault, involving over 3,000 missiles, launched against Israel; HAMAS attacked Israel by land, bulldozing the border wall, which separated Gaza and Israel, by sea, using speed boats to attack the Israeli coast and by air, using gliders to airlift fighters over the border.
Obviously, someone in the HAMAS military command spent some time watching YOUTUBE videos on Eisenhower’s D-DAY invasion.
In John Ford’s masterpiece, THE SEARCHERS, there is a moment in which the John Wayne character understands why the Comanche killed the cattle they had captured. The John Wayne character recognizes the Comanche attack as a MURDER RAID.
This HAMAS attack is a murder raid, to kill as many Israelis as possible. Old, Young, men, women, grandmothers, infirmed.
HAMAS killers are going from door to door executing people.
They have also kidnapped Israelis, from children to elderly grandmothers, to hold as hostages, or human shields; or to put them on show trials, before they are executed.
As this Blog is being written, HAMAS is still engaging the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) in 22 locations.
The murder raid, in and of itself, is not surprising; HAMAS has always had a death wish.
What is surprising, to the point of shock, is the surprise factor.
And the surprisingly inept response.
When the HAMAS fighters broke through the Israeli defense barriers; seemingly, no one called in the Israeli Air Force to mow them down. Israel has an armada of APACHE attack helicopters and, a well trained cadre of Apache pilots; seemingly not one Apache was called in.
The attack occurred on an Israeli holiday; many IDF soldiers were on home leave. However, IDF soldiers marry their weapons; even on home leave, they have to carry their guns and ammunition.
Yet, there seems to have been no significant, spontaneous, or effective resistance from IDF soldiers on home leave.
On the day of the attack, Israel seemingly was consumed by complacency.
Finally, the HAMAS murder raid involved massive logistics, the massing of human fighters, the storage and preparation of gliders, the testing of speed boats.
Seemingly, the vaunted Israeli intelligence apparatus, did not pick up any of those clues; that an impending massive murder raid was coming.
Or did they?
Officially, Israel was supposedly clueless, prior to the Yom Kippur War, about the Arab buildup; and that is why Israel was surprised.
That is not true; Israel had the intelligence about the Arab buildup; the problem was that the Israeli High Command did not take the intelligence seriously. Who would dare attack the winners of the SIX DAY WAR?
This Blogger will therefore make the assumption that Israeli intelligence did indeed inform Israeli High Command. that something was amiss; that something was afoot. But the 2023 Israeli High command dismissed it.
This Blogger was taught that every, EVERY, anomaly should be taken seriously; that protocol has become extinct in modern Western High Command.
Israel suffered this devastating murder raid because its leadership, its current leadership, is marinated in hubris; and did not believe that HAMAS was intent on a massive murder raid; even though the evidence was there.
This Blogger happened to be in Cairo, on vacation, as the Gulf War began; he met some Palestinian revolutionaries, friends of my tour guide, for a drink.
They espoused the theory of specific generational genius; that a flowering of genius in one generation could not be passed on to the following generations. They intended to outlast the founding geniuses of Israel: Ben-Gurion, Eban, Peres, Sharon, Rabin, Dayan and all the rest. They surmised that sooner or later, after the Founding Geniuses died, Israeli leadership would fall back to mediocrity, and they would make their move.
That may be occurring in 2023.

Peace need not be a group hug; Peace is not killing each other.
