In A World Which Needs Cold Fusion and Solar Furnaces; Joe Biden's Climate Change Bill is Interior Decorating Waiting for Doomsday
Multicultural democracies have two, perhaps fatal flaws- 1) by its concentration and focus on grievances it freezes discussions, ossifies debate and castrates out of the box thinking. 2) Multicultural democracies uplift triviality, and focus on minutiae, play with Kabuki solutions, at the expense of solving the looming existential threats.
Democrats just passed in the U.S. Senate, a bill which is the epitome of multicultural democracy; Liberals believe that the Bill has saved Civilization.
“Did Democrats Just Save Civilization? By Paul Krugman…
, They really did it. The Inflation Reduction Act, which is mainly a climate change bill with a side helping of health reform, passed the Senate on Sunday; by all accounts, it will easily pass the House, so it’s about to become law.
This is a very big deal. The act isn’t, by itself, enough to avert climate disaster. But it is a huge step in the right direction and sets the stage for more action in the years ahead. It will catalyze progress in green technology; its economic benefits will make passing additional legislation easier; it gives the United States the credibility it needs to lead a global effort to limit greenhouse gas emissions. ..NEW YORK TIMES.”
Only in a multicultural democracy, would this Bill be considered a Big Deal. It is not a Big Deal. It is a bill which concentrates on trivialities; it is all about table settings; it is a Bill crafted by Interior Decorators amid a firestorm outside.
There is no sense of real , REAL Urgency in the Bill.
For example, the Earth has just recorded THE SHORTEST DAY since the invention of the atomic clock.
WHY?
The days on Earth are getting shorter, shouldn’t that mean more darkness? And shouldn’t more darkness mean a cooling Earth rather than a hotter climate?
The last time, the Earth experienced such a short day was during the age of the dinosaurs, right before their extinction. Does this shorter day mean that something really massive is coming our way to clobber us; is that shorter day a portent of another extinction asteroid?
“(CNN) — Scientists recorded the shortest day on Earth since the invention of the atomic clock.
Our planet’s rotation measured in at 1.59 milliseconds short of the normal 24-hour day on June 29, according to the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service, an organization in charge of global timekeeping.
A rotation is the length of time the Earth takes to spin once on its axis, which is roughly 86,400 seconds.
….The atomic clock is a standardized unit of measurement that has been used since the 1950s to tell time and measure the Earth’s rotation, said Dennis McCarthy, retired director of time at the US Naval Observatory.
…..Researchers do not have a definitive answer on how or why Earth is turning slightly faster, but it may be due to glacial isostatic adjustment, or the movement of land due to melting glaciers, McCarthy said.
Earth is slightly wider than it is tall, which makes it an oblate spheroid, he said. The glaciers at the poles weigh down on the Earth’s crust at the North and South poles, McCarthy said.
Since the poles are melting due to the climate crisis, there is less pressure on the top and bottom of the planet, which moves the crust up and makes the Earth rounder, he said. The circular shape helps the planet spin faster, McCarthy said.
….As Earth becomes rounder, its mass becomes closer to its center, which increases its rotational speed, he said….CNN.”
The 2022 Earth is wobbling, because of Climate Change; but this Bill does not get at the core of the problem.
Climate Change is caused by too many people on earth; which has caused an enormous demand for food and energy. In 2022, that energy demand has caused a spike in use of fossil fuels, and will continue to do so.
This Bill is a Potemkin Village on Climate Change; it tries, through superficial policies, to wean America off of fossil fuels. That will not work, for there are too many people flooding into America through the Biden Administration’s defacto policy of Open Borders, for America to be weaned off of fossil fuels.
Even the Liberal media now admits that the Colorado River, the Don Divino of the American Southwest, which supplies drinking water for 40 million Americans, and irrigation water to feed the nation, is drying up. Lake Mead, the large man-made reservoir, which holds the drinking water for 40 million Americans, is evaporating; it is so low that water cannot flow through the turbines of Hoover Dam; meaning there will soon be a short fall in power and energy for 40 million Americans.
America is watching its Southwest turn into a modern Sahara before its eyes, and America is concerned about Interior Decorating.
There is only one solution to America’s problem with Climate Change, a new source of energy.
That source is Cold Fusion.
They tell us Cold Fusion cannot work; they told us the atom could not be split, until America did it.
America needs a Cold Fusion MANHATTAN PROJECT, to commence immediately.
“Cold fusion offers a new energy economy;. Cold fusion means it is economically-viable to recycle all waste, restore wilderness and waterways to pristine conditions, and keep a planetary biosphere from extinction.
Cold fusion claims to release measurable energy from fusion reactions at or near room temperature when deuterium is dissolved in a solid, usually palladium metal.”
America can engineer all the tax credits in the world; they mean nothing on a wobbly Earth; America needs to know if COLD FUSION will work.
“Peter N. Saeta, an assistant professor of physics at Harvey Mudd College, responds:
....researchers Martin Fleischmann and Stanley Pons, then both at the University of Utah, made headlines around the world with their claim to have achieved fusion in a simple tabletop apparatus working at room temperature. Other experimenters failed to replicate their work, however, and most of the scientific community no longer considers cold fusion a real phenomenon. Nevertheless, research continues, and a small but very vocal minority still believes in cold fusion.
Michael J. Schaffer, a senior scientist at one of the major U.S. fusion research laboratories (his employer has requested not to be identified), has provided this historical overview, along with a rather moderate assessment current status of cold fusion:
"Because cold fusion is still an unresolved and controversial subject that generates strong opinions and passionate debate among scientists, I begin by stating up front that I am a mainstream plasma physicist researching fusion energy. I also read many of the papers published on cold fusion, however. I attended the last three International Conferences on Cold Fusion, and I myself ran two sets of cold fusion experiments, both with no clear evidence of excess power release. Overall, I consider myself to be a fairly neutral observer.
"To understand the controversy, it helps to know some basic facts about fusion. Fusion is a nuclear reaction wherein two smaller nuclei join (fuse) to form a new, larger nucleus. When that large nucleus is unstable, it quickly breaks apart and releases energy. The big difficulty is that because the initial nuclei are all positively charged, they are strongly repelled as they approach one another. Therefore, only nuclei having a high kinetic energy approach closely enough to fuse. High-speed nuclei can be made on the earth either by particle accelerators or by extremely high temperatures--on the order of 50 million degrees Celsius or more. In controlled 'magnetic' fusion energy experiments, such as tokamaks and others, a magnetically confined plasma is heated by electromagnetic waves or neutral particle beams. In 'inertial' fusion energy experiments, tiny pellets are compressed and heated by powerful pulsed laser or ion beams.
"Cold fusion claims to release measurable energy from fusion reactions at or near room temperature when deuterium is dissolved in a solid, usually palladium metal. The idea, which has its roots in research going back to the 1920s, is that hydrogen and its isotopes can dissolve to such high concentrations in certain solids that the hydrogen nuclei approach closer to one another than even in solid hydrogen. Furthermore, negative electrical charges from the electrons of the solid host partly cancel the repulsion between the nuclei.
…… To most scientists, this implies that cold fusion results are not believable, but true believers suggest that this unpredictability makes them more interesting!,,,SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN. “
Cold Fusion is the Higgs Boson, THE God Particle, in our struggle against Climate Change. Is it fake science? A boondoggle? This Blogger does not know; but he knows America must find out, soon.
During the initial stages of the COVID crisis the following was published: “Spanish biological researcher” says “You give the footballer 1 million euros a month and a biological researcher 1,800 euros per month, and you are now looking for a coronavirus treatment. Go to Cristiano Ronaldo or Messi and they will get you a cure.”
The Media dismissed the incident as fantasy; regardless, the fantasy had the right idea. LeBron James is a billionaire because of his ability to play basketball; outfielder Juan Soto turned down a contract offer of $440 million dollars….these great entertainers deserve their money, but their contributions cannot save Earth.
America should offer ONE BILLION DOLLARS tax free to the person who proves Cold Fusion viable. It will be the best investment ever.
The second doomsday problem the Democrats’ Bill failed to address is PLASTICS, microplastics, plastics everywhere.
“Paul Solman: .... a former NASA engineer Mark Rober, with a mere 22 million YouTube fans, whose passion for engineering lead to such science stunts as the squirrel run and do-it-yourself glitter bombs to deter package thieves.
….Nicholas Mallos, Ocean Conservancy: We have to be careful the assumptions we make. If you get close to the surface, you start to see a lot of these small flecks of things that are microplastics.
Here we got some plastic wrap, resembles jellies and other type of food that is heavily ingested by sea turtles, fish.….Every animal in the ocean and humans being atop of the food chain are also ingesting them.
Paul Solman: Environmental engineer Anja Brandon, among many scientists who thought there might be a partial fix to the plastics problem, tried mealworms, whose gut bacteria digest styrofoam. After years of research, she concluded it was no real fix at all.
Anja Brandon, Ocean Conservancy:It would take probably a couple 1,000 mealworms a month or two to eat something like a typical styrofoam coffee cup. And we have got a lot of cups out there in the world.
So, Brandon left the lab to work for the Ocean Conservancy. The other half of TeamSeas' $30 million goes to the Ocean Cleanup, a Dutch nonprofit which makes Interceptors. As an engineer, Mark Rober loves these garbage-gobbling robots.
Mark Rober: Eighty percent of the plastic flowing to the ocean from rivers comes from just 1 percent of the rivers. So their idea is to put these trash-eating robots on those worst offending rivers and that will go a long way to fixing the problem at the source.
Paul Solman: The Ocean Cleanup reports that, to date, it has removed more than three million pounds of trash from the world's rivers and oceans.
….Paul Solman: But, wait, are these really solutions? There are only eight Interceptors worldwide. And this one will handle just nine of the 600 miles of waterways in L.A. alone, and plastic is pouring into our oceans at a rate of eight million metric tons, or more than 17 billion pounds, each year.
...Simon Clark, Atmospheric Scientist:TeamSeas is proposing to remove 13,600 tons of plastic every two years, I think it is. The amount of plastic that we add to the ocean means that is added back to the ocean every 15 hours….PBS.”
Microplastics may not only be killing all life in the oceans, but also changing our species.
Many of this Blogger’s generation, which has seen the fall of Shahs, and Soviet Empires, have wondered why the new generation is more like the off spring from the CHILDREN OF THE DAMNED than our grandparents. Is it the internet?
Why is there a new gender springing up every fortnight among the species?
Could it be microplastics at work?
For microplastics can enter the mother’s placenta and her fetus, spawning the children of the damned.
"Researchers looking at plastics’ connection with pregnancy and children’s health, find that placenta can absorb nanoplastics during pregnancy – affecting babies when born.
Plastic breaks down into microplastics and even smaller nanoplastics, which can be found globally, including now, in babies.….. researchers can now confirm the presence of microplastics in the placenta and in newborns.
Additionally, researchers now believe that breast milk and infant formula may also contain microplastics.
Kam Sripada, a neuroscientist from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), said: “It’s quite possible that children are more exposed to microplastics than adults, similar to children’s greater exposure to many other environmental toxic chemicals.
“….. “Children do not have a fully developed immune system and are in a very important phase of their brain development. This makes them particularly vulnerable. It’s almost impossible to prevent children from ingesting plastic.
“Nano- and microplastics are so miniscule that they can travel deep into the lungs and can also cross into the placenta. At the same time, they transport dangerous chemicals with them on their journey. That’s why we believe that nano- and microplastics can be a health risk for children.”….openaccessgovernment.”
This Blogger thinks cleaning up the plastics in the oceans is a waste of time, futile, a fantasy reflective of Liberalism. The plastics, microplastics, nanoplastics must be VAPORIZED.
It can’t be done, with Joe Biden’s fussy old thinking.
On April 26, 2018, this Blogger suggested SOLAR FURNANCES.
“Microplastics accounted for 8% of the total mass of plastic afloat within an area of 1.6 million square km.
Erik van Sebille of Utrecht University in the Netherlands, who is not connected with the study, said the amount of plastic discovered was "staggering".
….What the study found…
The Pacific Garbage Patch is big, really big; so BIG it should focus our attention on its danger.
How big is it?
TWICE the size of TEXAS.
“World's largest collection of ocean garbage is twice the size of Texas...US ATODAY
A giant island of plastic floating in the Pacific Ocean holds as much as 16 times more debris than was previously thought, posing a significant threat to the food chain, according to an international team of scientists.….the patch is not a solid mass of plastic. It includes about 1.8 trillion pieces and weighs 88,000 tons — the equivalent of 500 jumbo jets. The new figures are as much as 16 times higher than previous estimates…..No governments have stepped up to clean the trash, which is in international waters, so it's up to privately funded groups such as the Ocean Cleanup Foundation to take the lead in getting rid of the garbage…..There's a sense of urgency, said Joost Dubois, a spokesman with the foundation.
