As a member and devotee of Western Civilization, this Blogger is alarmed by the real possibility that said Civilization will be smashed to smithereens by an uncontrollable deluge of Mass Migrations. 1)AMECA
AMECA is the robot created in a British lab as the world’s most advanced humanoid, capable of movements and facial expressions.
“…..Cornwall-based Engineered Arts, which brands itself 'the UK's leading designer and manufacturer of humanoid entertainment robots', unveiled the machine on YouTube to much excitement.
Many viewers expressed their amazement at how realistic and human-like the machine is.
One user wrote: 'I know we're supposed to be scared of AI, but this is the first gynoid that hasn't creeped me out. It's pretty cool.'
Another said: 'It's the eyes. People take for granted how important eyes are when it comes to something looking alive.
'The rapid movement, the focus, the blinking, the attention they seem to pay to whatever is grabbing their attention.'
A third added: 'I seriously thought this was CGI at first. Great work! The hands look really well done too.'
Some people compared Ameca to the NS-5 series from I, Robot, a 2004 science fiction film starring Will Smith that sees intelligent robots fill public service positions in a dystopian world.
In ( a film) clip, the robot is seen warming up its shoulder, before opening its eyes and expressing a rather convincing look of shock or surprise.
It even blinks multiple times and observes its machine arm with curiosity.
The preview ends with Ameca reaching out its hand and admiring its combination of mechanical limbs and ligaments, actuators, and sensor arrays.
It is certainly realistic and at the forefront of its field in terms of its expressions, but the next challenge will be enabling these robots to walk around.
Engineered Arts said it was still a long way off that, but added that the face is housed on a 'human-like artificial body (AI x AB)' that boasts a 'powerful Tritium robot operating system'.
Ameca follows the development of Sophia, which first emerged in 2016, and was a super-intelligent human-like head with a realistic face that was able to blink, look from side to side and talk.
The humanoid robot, created by Hong Kong firm Hanson robotics, is able to chat, smile mischievously and even tell jokes.
The robot made history in October 2017 when it became legal a citizen of Saudi Arabia.
Engineered Arts hopes Ameca will offer people a glimpse of the future because it 'represents the forefront of human-robotics technology'.
'Designed specifically as a platform for development into future robotics technologies, Ameca is the perfect humanoid robot platform for human-robot interaction,' the company said on its website.
'We focus on bringing you innovative technologies, which are reliable, modular, upgradable and easy to develop upon.'
While Sophia has some impressive capabilities, she does not yet have consciousness.
Hanson Robotics claims fully sentient machines could emerge within a few years.
Sophia herself has insisted 'the pros outweigh the cons' when it comes to artificial intelligence.
'Elders will have more company, autistic children will have endlessly patient teachers,' Sophia said….DAILY MAIL.”
Mankind has always luxuriated in the assumption that it was smarter than the dumb, obsolete, non-competitive Neanderthals; that Neanderthals deserved to be massacred, en masse.
Neanderthals may have been dumb, but they were not dumb enough to create a humanoid species, which could replace it as alphas on the planet.
How can that happen Gerry? Robots can't reproduce.

2) XENOBOTS( see picture below)
“Xenobots—living robots made from the stem cells of the African frog (Xenopus laevis)—had already impressed researchers by moving, healing themselves, and even spontaneously piling up debris that was strewn about. But when those small synthetic particles were replaced with loose stem cells, the little living bots did something remarkable: they brought those cells together, constructing new xenobots.
“These are frog cells replicating in a way that is very different from how frogs do it. No animal or plant known to science replicates in this way,” Harvard University synthetic biologist and roboticist Sam Kriegman, co-lead author on the PNAS paper describing the discovery, says in a press release from Harvard University’s Wyss Institute.
Xenobots were first born when scientists extracted skin stem cells from frog embryos and cultured them in salt water. All on their own, the cells clumped together and cells on the outside of these clumps developed cilia, which allowed the clumps to move. They would also randomly make piles of particles in their environment, which according to The Washington Post, led the researchers to wonder: Would they do the same with loose cells?
It turns out the answer is yes, and the piles of cells they create become new functioning xenobots. As the authors explain in their paper: “clusters of cells, if freed from a developing organism, can similarly find and combine loose cells into clusters that look and move like they do”—a kind of reproduction called kinetic replication. Furthermore, they add “this ability does not have to be specifically evolved or introduced by genetic manipulation.”
The team then used artificial intelligence to predict what shapes of xenobots might be most efficient at this gathering behavior. The supercomputer landed on a Pac-Man–like configuration, so the researchers tested it against a few other designs by carefully carving the naturally spherical xenobots into different shapes. As the algorithm predicted, the miniature Cs were most successful in producing “baby” xenobots that reproduced themselves, resulting in multiple “generations” of bots. While seen in molecules, such kinematic replication is not known from the tree of life, co–lead author and University of Vermont computer scientist Josh Bongard states in the Wyss press release.
The ability to replicate adds a new layer of potential utility to the robots. Kriegman tells The Washington Post that while xenobots are not yet commercially useful, with more work they have the potential to provide a number of services, from cleaning up microplastics from the ocean to safely delivering drugs in humans.
The researchers say they want to extend their research by creating biological robots out of mammalian cells, reports the Post. They ultimately aim to increase the robots’ intelligence to the point where they can operate without any human intervention. Of course, such work would require additional ethical considerations, Kriegman tells the newspaper. Kriegman also stresses that xenobots would never get out of control and cause a robot apocalypse. “It’s an extremely controllable and stoppable and safe system,” he says, noting that simple changes to the sodium content of the water or adding a bit of copper to their dish is enough to kill the delicate bots….THE SCIENCE.”
Do scientists have to score a 100% on the delusional test to become a scientist?
It is delusional to think the cute little xenobots can be controlled; THEY ARE ALREADY THINKING. The first thing a sentient being wants to do is SURVIVE; the xenobots will come up with a mutation immune to the effects of more copper in the dish.

Researchers have watched SARS-CoV-2 evolve in real time more closely than any other virus in history. So far, it has accumulated mutations at a rate of about one to two changes per month. That means many of the genomes sequenced today differ at about 20 points from the earliest genomes sequenced in China in January, but many variants with fewer changes are also circulating. “Because we have very dense surveillance of genomes, you can almost see every step,” Loman says.
But scientists have never seen the virus acquire more than a dozen mutations seemingly at once.They think it happened during a long infection of a single patient that allowed SARS-CoV-2 to go through an extended period of fast evolution, with multiple variants competing for advantage.
One reason to be concerned, Rambaut says, is that among the 17 mutations are eight in the gene that encodes the spike protein on the viral surface, two of which are particularly worrisome. One, called N501Y, has previously been shown to increase how tightly the protein binds to the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 receptor, its entry point into human cells. The other, named 69-70del, leads to the loss of two amino acids in the spike protein and has been found in viruses that eluded the immune response in some immunocompromised patients.

They identified a lineage separate from the U.K. variant that also has a N501Y mutation in the spike gene. “We found that this lineage seems to be spreading much faster,” says Tulio de Oliveira, a virologist at the University of KwaZulu-Natal whose work first alerted U.K. scientists to the importance of N501Y. ….Another worry is B.1.1.7 could cause more severe disease.
