This Blogger believes that it may well be time to license intellectuals. This society can no longer survive with its intellectual class being anointed by THE ATLANTIC, NEW YORK TIMES, CNN, MSNBC and assorted moth ridden academics and not by successful empirical observation.
For what is the true purpose of intellectuals? To find fault with the past? To denigrate Robert E. Lee? To chastise Winston Churchill? To trumpet a Liberalism which is Orwellian in its conceptualization and execution? To demand conformity in society? To punish free thinkers? To administer a Grand Inquisition to make Americans swear allegiance to multiculturalism?
No, the purpose of an intellectual is to be a canary in the mine; to inform the hard-working people of the dangers ahead, to be accurate in one's predictions about the future.
H.G. Wells was an intellectual; as was John Brown, who stated at his hanging for attempting to overthrow the old decadent order before the Civil War:”I John Brown am now quite certain that the crimes of this guilty land will never be purged away, but with Blood.”
Frederick Douglass was an intellectual, when he rejected John Brown’s offer to join a slave rebellion; stating that only a vast expenditure of white blood and treasure could end slavery in America.
There can be no such thing as an ex post facto intellectual if the society is to survive.
In 1848, before the Revolutions of 1848, the great intellectual Alexis de Tocqueville gave the following speech:

No doubt they are not disturbed by political passions, properly so called, to the same extent that they have been; but can you not see that their passions, instead of political, have become social? Social Disorder, riot, revolution, and eventual Civil War have been predictable in America for at least a decade, ever since the Globalist Governing Class in America changed the spirit of American government, by jettisoning the American working class for Globalism, Multiculturalism and Illegal Aliens.
What is the point of America having an intellectual class if it cannot perform their function of predicting social upheaval, revolution and civil war; all caused by a degradation of the spirit of American government?
In the waning days of 2021, the Globalist/Liberal Elite has gone agog over an article in the Liberal Intellectual Journal, THE ATLANTIC by Barton Gellman.
The article states that the Republic is in dire trouble, on the verge of slipping into a Northern Ireland Troubles and we all should be worried.
“…..Pape drew an analogy to Northern Ireland in the late 1960s, at the dawn of the Troubles. “In 1968, 13 percent of Catholics in Northern Ireland said that the use of force for Irish nationalism was justified,” he said. “The Provisional IRA was created shortly thereafter with only a few hundred members.” Decades of bloody violence followed. And 13 percent support was more than enough, in those early years, to sustain it.“It’s the community’s support that is creating a mantle of legitimacy—a mandate, if you would, that justifies the violence” of a smaller, more committed group, Pape said. “I’m very concerned it could happen again, because what we’re seeing in our surveys … is 21 million people in the United States who are essentially a mass of kindling or a mass of dry wood that, if married to a spark, could in fact ignite.”…Gellman, THE ATLANTIC.”
Gellman was interviewed by Judy Woodruff on PBS NEWHOURS. The following is excerpted.
“Gellman-….I think we have a — you could almost call it an epistemological crisis here, in which we don't seem to share as a country any common foundation of basic facts, of basic truth, black is black and white is white….NEWSHOUR.”
This Blogger responds thusly: of course, the Republic has an epistemological (relating to the theory of knowledge, especially with regard to its methods, validity, and scope, and the distinction between justified belief and opinion.) crisis, caused by Mass Migration and Globalism. How can the residents of America agree on anything when they are being battered and overwhelmed by Multiculturalism and Social Engineering?
Americans, because of Liberals, can no longer even agree on what or who is a woman?
Gellman was discussed the next night once again on NEWSHOUR.

He said that, according to the best estimates, 21 million Americans, give or take, are prepared to use violence to keep Donald Trump in power.
- Jonathan Capehart:Right. And as he notes in his piece — and I think I'm going to misremember the country he was talking about that had fewer people and spun out of control, based on eight million people. I think it was — I think it was Serbia that he wrote about.
But with 21 million people — he's making the point that 21 million people, that's a lot of people who can do a lot of damage in key places around the country, if they turn their detachment from reality into an effort to overturn elections, not just by ransacking the Capitol, but going to state capitols around the country.
What's been so alarming — and I'm very alarmed about what's happening in this country — the voting — the voting bills that have been passed, that have been introduced around the country where they are keeping people from voting. If people vote, they make it — they make it possible that their votes don't count. And if their votes do count, they have now made it so that those results can be overturned.
That is the key thing. And that is what Barton Gellman is really ringing the alarm about, that we're going down a road that, if we don't do something relatively soon, we might not be able to climb back out of the hole that we're in. - Judy Woodruff:It was — I mean, the article that he wrote is seriously disturbing.
- David Brooks:And the other thing which I thought about before…… is, he likens it to Northern Ireland before the Troubles.”
That is a lot of intellectualities, referencing the Troubles in Northern Ireland, TEN YEARS TOO LATE.

"Professor Mason said she worried that more violence and attacks on elected leaders and state Capitols could be coming, saying the country could be in for a period like the Troubles, the conflict in Northern Ireland in which sectarian violence kept the region unstable for 30 years…..NEW YORK TIMES.”
American intellectuals need to start earning their keep and stop predicting what is already past.
