It has come to this Blogger's attention that there is a national movement to ban Harper Lee's novel. TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD because of its liberal use of THE N WORD.

The most pernicious scene in America’s futile attempt to overcome racism in 2022, is the scene in TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, in which a little girl, a mini-Joan of Arc, dissuades a rabid mob of racists from doing bad things.
That seminal scene in fake history was plagiarized by Ms. Lee from a wonderful book STARS IN MY CROWN, by the great Joe David Brown.

“Harper Lee, the mysterious, mythic, legendary tomboy crone cum close friend of Truman Capote intends to publish again; the ghost of J.D. Salinger must be shaking in his grave.
Ms. Lee is the 1960 Pulitzer Prize winning author of TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD from Alabama; and has been awarded a Presidential Medal of Freedom for her work, a study of racism in Alabama.
This Blogger has always considered TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD the most over rated book, and the MOST over rated film in History.
It is over rated for a simple reason, the key scene in it is plagiarized, from Joe David Brown's STARS IN MY CROWN. Joe David Brown was also from Alabama, and a war hero.
The scene is when precocious SCOUT FINCH, the cute, spunky tomboy of a girl disarms and shames a potential lynch mob into disbanding.
The scene is disingenuous, no self respecting bunch of white crackers/racists in the 1936 Faulknerian/ American South is going to let a perky little girl stand in their way of preserving the Old South. In 1936, Confederate veterans were still alive (8 African Americans were lynched in 1936).
The original scene in STARS IN MY CROWN, has a white Minister(Joel McCrea in the film), who disarms and disbands the lynch mob by reading a fake letter/will supposedly written to members of the mob by the trapped black, performed by that great actor, Juano Hernandez as the freed black slave, UNCLE FAMOUS.
In the STARS’ version, the minister is, unbeknownst to him, backed up by a passel of guns led by Alan Hale, just in case the lynch mob does not have a sentimental streak.
"Lon Backett (Ed Begley) wants to buy the land of freed slave Uncle Famous Prill (Juano Hernandez). He needs the mica deposit to keep his mine in operation, but Uncle Famous refuses to sell. The out-of-work miners trample the old man's crops and scatter his livestock, then when he stubbornly holds out, give him an ultimatum: get out or else. the Minister(Joel McCrea) Josiah declines the armed assistance of his old war buddy, Jed Isbell (Alan Hale), and his sons, and waits with Uncle Famous for the lynch mob to show up in their Ku Klux Klan costumes. Josiah offers no resistance, but asks the lynch mob to first listen to him read them Uncle Famous's will. With each item, he slyly reminds the beneficiary of the old man's past kindness to that individual. Shamed, the mob disperses, Lon Backett leading the way. Afterwards, the pages Josiah had read are picked up, and there is nothing written on them. and, seeing nothing written on them, it is declared not a will. The Minister replies: "It's the will of God."
If you want to see a lynch mob defeated by moral suasion watch STARS IN MY CROWN; if you want to see a lynch mob defeated by fake sentimentality, keep on watching TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD.….THE MAXEY CHRONICLES.”
TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD is pernicious in that it advocates a theory of history that sentimentality can defeat racism.
It can’t.
Ms. Lee’s whitewash of Southern History has created a cottage industry of films pronouncing that a wee bit of sentimentality can overcome the dragon.
12 YEARS A SLAVE was a Harper Lee type confection in that the Brad Pitt character, a Canadian, had moral superiority amidst slavery. Bunk. Every white man between 14 and 55 who could sit a horse and carry a gun was subject to serving one day a week in the SLAVE PATROL. Even if you personally opposed slavery, you had to give your gun to enslavement. That was the Southern genius which allowed slavery too last from 1619 through 1865, without a mass Spartacus like slave rebellion. The Southern slaveholder shared the sin; that was such a brilliant idea, Hitler borrowed it when he made his German Army kill Jews alongside his SS Jew Killing apparatus-share the sin.
The film, THE HELP was one of those hug the dragon films. In it, a sassy maid puts human feces into a pie, and the pie is not only ardently eaten by the dumb white racist mistress but also praised.
The maid did her recipe gleefully, joyfully, without fear of consequence.
Two words to that-MARY TURNER.
In May, 1918, in Valdosta,Georgia, Mary Turner,”…. whose husband had been killed at the hands of a mob, made the mistake of making “unwise” remarks after he was killed. Mr. Turner had not committed any type of offense, however, another black man had killed a white farmer and in retaliation, many of the white citizens of Valdosta lynched eleven black men before they shot and killed the man they were after. Mr. Turner was one of those men who were in the wrong place at the wrong time during the mob’s frenzied vendetta.
After her husband’s murder, Mary, who was eight months pregnant, vowed to avenge those who killed her husband. For her remarks, a mob of several hundred white men and women determined they would “teach her a lesson.” Turner’s ankles were tied together and she was hanged upside down from a tree, doused with gasoline and burned. After her clothes burned off and while she was still alive, a man sliced open her abdomen with a hog splitting knife. Her unborn infant fell from her womb, gave two screams, then had its head crushed by mob members who stomped on it.
Mary Turner’s body was then riddled with bullets. Turner and her child were hastily buried about ten feet from the execution site. Their graves were marked by an empty whiskey bottle and a cigar. After the lynchings more than 500 African-Americans left the vicinity of Valdosta, leaving hundreds of acres of untilled land behind them….LYNCHINGS IN AMERICA”
Neither Mary Turner nor her husband DID anything; yet they were both lynched; Mary in a barbaric way. Mary Turner just said something.
No Southern black maid in her right mind would put human feces in the pie of her white mistress, for fear of being discovered and meeting Mary Turner’s fate.
Liberals think Diversity will slay the Dragon who killed Mary Turner; to that end, Liberals have allowed, empowered and encouraged a 475% increase in Black African Immigration to America since 2000( Pew Research).
That is foolish; and only exacerbates racial tension in America, fast tracking the next civil war.
And who is America importing? Ilhan Omar, who is basically Jacob Zuma in drag.
Only Americans can solve America's racial problems.
As this Blog is being written, across America, there is a kerfuffle about teaching American students the NEW YORK TIMES’ 1619 project, about slavery.
That would be a waste of time; the tome is didactic, Stalinist, pedantic and patronizing, It is LILLIPUTIAN in its execution; the authors, like Swift’s LILLIPUTIANS, place an emphasis on trivial matters, such as: “…which end of an egg a person cracks becomes the basis of a deep political rift within that nation.”
It would be better use of time, if every 11th grader in America wrote an essay on why he or she would have been a member of the lynch mob which despoiled Mary Turner.
Or, as many in the lynch mob of half the white population of Grant County thought, it was Jesus himself who saved an innocent Black teenager from being lynched, after a frenzied mob had already lynched two Black men.
That Black kid died in 2006; the last member of that lynch mob died in 2010, a raving lunatic....muttering to all that could hear, "Jesus saved that N........Why would Jesus do that?"
