A few, sad thoughts about Donald Trump’s political farewell, which technically ended when his imposed candidate, Herschel Walker, lost his bid to be US Senator from Georgia.
That is technically correct; in reality, Mr. Trump’s political doom occurred when he imposed a Turkish citizen, a Sunni Muslim, who still voted in Turkish elections, as the Republican candidate for Senator from Pennsylvania. That imposition by fiat made no logical sense for a man who announced an intention to ban Sunni Muslims from entering America. One must conclude that his unhinged dedication to having a member of the ummah in the US Senate, a practicing Turkish citizen, must be a result of Mr. Trump reaching some type of accommodation with the would-be Caliph of Sunni Islam, the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Trump’s imposition was so off putting to Pennsylvania voters that his anointed candidate lost to a man recovering from a stroke.
This Blogger voted for President Trump in 2016 and in 2020.
Why?
When this Blogger was a young man at the University of Southern California, one of his best friend's father was editor of a now defunct Los Angeles newspaper. His friend’s father got his son and this Blogger a pass to go visit the set of an Audie Murphy Western film. There, this Blogger got a chance to meet and chat with Mr. Murphy.
Mr. Murphy was the son of poor, Texas sharecroppers; with a body too fragile to be a US Marine; so, he joined the U.S. Army. He became the most decorated American combat soldier of World War II. He killed over 264 Nazis; not unarmed men, not by machine gunning them in front of an open pit, not by gassing them, not by execution. He killed them in mortal combat.
He and his ilk, Ira Hayes, Robert Dole, Daniel Inouye, all of them, did it for the Republic.
The American Democratic Party, by their policy of Open Borders, by placing the value of consumers above the value of citizens, has degraded and despoiled the efforts of Mr. Murphy and his companions.
The Democratic Party, in 2016, 2020, and 2024 makes Mr. Murphy’s risks tawdry and foolish. The Democratic Party is taking the greatest civic gift on the planet, American citizenship, and doling it out to claim jumpers on American citizenship.
That is debased.
The debasement of American citizenship is what gave Mr. Trump his political advantage.
Which he squandered.
Why?
Now, this Blogger is going to step into a minefield, a treacherous minefield; for he is going to compare President Trump to a certain German dictator, who married Eva Braun and murdered his loyal dog.
Albert Speer, the charming Nazi, blamed this defeated dictator's defeat on his adoration of amateurism . The same could be said of Donald Trump.
“Amateurishness was one of Hitler’s dominant traits…..like many self-taught people, he had no idea what real specialized knowledge meant. Without any sense of the complexities of any great task, he boldly assumed one function after another. Unburdened by standard ideas, his quick intelligence sometimes conceived unusual measures when a specialist would not have hit on at all. The victories of the early years of the war can literally be attributed to Hitler’s ignorance of the rules of the game and his layman’s delight in decision making. Since the opposing side was trained to apply rules which Hitler’s self-taught, autocratic mind did not know and did not use, he achieved surprises. These audacities, coupled with military superiority, were the basis of his early successes. But as soon as setbacks occurred, he suffered shipwreck, like most untrained people. Then his ignorance of the rules of the games was revealed as another kind of incompetence; then his defects were no longer strengths. The greater the failures became, the more obstinately his incurable amateurishness came to the fore. The tendency to wild decisions had long been his forte; now is speeded his downfall…..ALBERT SPEER, MEMOIRS.”
“The greater the failures became, the more obstinately his incurable amateurishness came to the fore. The tendency to wild decisions had long been his forte; now is speeded his downfall.”
Failure, incurable amateurishness, and wild decisions, like supporting Dr. Oz in Pennsylvania and Walker in Georgia. Recently, on his social media network, President Trump made the following statement.
““Do you throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 OUT and declare the RIGHTFUL WINNER, or do you have a NEW ELECTION? A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution,”…..Donald Trump.”
Where did President Trump find the language to inspire that logic? Right before Christmas?
From Christopher Walken, as MAX SHRECK, in BATMAN RETURNS.
“Give the Constitution a rest, okay? It's Christmas.”.
The sad farewell to President Trump’s political career can be encapsulated as follows: the power of amateurism, which propelled him to power, speeded his downfall.
