On June 22, 2020, The MAXEY CHRONICLES published the following:
Well trained black cops, an endless supply of well trained black cops.
“There are 101 HBCU(HBCU)Historical Black Colleges and Universities in the United States, including both public and private institutions (down from the 121 institutions that existed during the 1930s). Of these remaining HBCU institutions in the United States, 27 offer doctoral programs, 52 offer master's programs, 83 offer bachelor's degree programs, and 38 offer associate degrees.”
Of those 101 HBCUs, a minimum of six should be carved out for police training, all tuition paid for by the Federal government. During their senior year, recruiters will come from Police Departments to the campuses and bid for the well trained black talent.
The six HBCUs would be like the Citadel or VMI; instead of turning out potential military officers, they would turn out black police officers for every department in the nation….THE MAXEY CHRONICLES.”
Sometimes a great notion has traction.
’In the U.S., 71.5% of police officers are white, but a historically Black college in Missouri is helping change that.
Lincoln University, in Jefferson City, created the first police academy at a HBCU.
In their bid to have law enforcement better reflect America, the university started the policing program in January 2021, graduating its first set of recruits six months later, in June. The class was made up of two Black women, four Black men and three white men.
"Law enforcement agencies across the nation have been pulling their hair out trying to figure out a way to recruit more minorities. And this has never been tried," Chief Gary Hill, the co-founder and principal instructor of the program, told Nightline. "I would love to see where we can go from here."
Chief Hill hopes the success of this academy will change the fate of policing -- and inspire other HBCUs to follow suit…..ABC NEWS.”
“In a class of twenty-six students, Gary Hill was one of only two Black students when he attended the police academy in 1997. That’s why he founded the Lincoln University Law Enforcement Training Academy, the first of its kind at any of America’s historically Black colleges or universities.
Now the chief of police at Lincoln University in Jefferson City and an alumnus of the school himself, Hill is the head instructor of the new program.
After working for the Missouri Sheriff’s Training Academy for ten years, which is where Hill noticed a lack of minority presence in the police force, he came up with the idea to place a police academy on campus.
“I just want to increase the minority footprint in law enforcement,” Hill says. “To be able to come back here and be their chief and then be able to start the program is like a dream come true.”
….Hill has also been in contact with Councilmember Curtis Jones of Philadelphia to discuss putting together an exploratory group as the first step toward starting similar police academies at two HBCUs in Pennsylvania. He’d like to see more academies across the country…..KANSAS MAGAZINE.”
One of this Blogger’s pet peeves is that the Biden Administration has not had one original idea on how to solve any of the Republic’s myriad of problems; in fact, the Biden Administration has not had one original idea on anything.
Therefore, this Blogger will do the Biden Administration a public service; prioritize Police Academies at HBCUs. One Black cop on the beat is worth ten Karine Jean Pierres reading from prepared notes.
