On
September 18, 2014, the ancient land of the Celts and Picts, Scotland, held an
independence referendum to decide, by democratic vote, whether to sever,
forever, the United Kingdom, the union
between Great Britain and Caledonia, which had been in effect since 1707. The
Union vote felled the Independence vote, 55% to 45%.
The
result was a shock to the British pundits, for the last poll before the vote
had independence winning 51% to 49%.
What
changed?
One
man made the difference; the media will say that man was Scottish former Labour
Prime Minister, Gordon Brown. Brown, is the son of a Presbyterian (Church of
Scotland, Scotland’s official church) Minister; Rev. Brown was a good and
decent man who blunted the savage comfort of Presbyterian Elitism with a great
respect for the Social Conscience. Gordon
Brown’s father was and is held in great respect in Scotland.
The
newly minted legend of the 9-18-2014 Scottish Independence Referendum is that Gordon
Brown, a bear of a man, alerted by polls showing independence winning, gathered
himself from hibernation and growled his way to saving the Union. That is already
the legend of the 9-18-2014 Referendum.
This
Blogger agrees that one man turned the tide against Scottish Independence; alas
that man was not Gordon Brown. It was Tariq Ali (pictured below).
Tariq
Ali is a British Pak; born in Lahore, Pakistan
when it was British India. "....He is the son of journalist Mazhar Ali Khan and activist mother Tahira Mazhar Ali Khan.”
Both of his parents came from the same extended family, an
upper crust feudal family. Ali’s father
had become a communist and atheist in college;
Ali’s
mother”…. belonged to the same family,
and became a communist and an atheist upon meeting his father…. Ali was taught
the fundamentals of Islam to be able to argue against it.He stated in Islam, Empire, and the Left: Conversation
with Tariq Ali: "I grew up an atheist. I make no secret of it. It
was acceptable. In fact, when I think back, none of my friends were believers..”
Tariq Ali is one of the leading intellectual
lights of the British Marxist New Left; he is a writer, journalist, film
maker, ideologue and gadfly. He is a key player on the board running the NEW
LEFT REVIEW.
A Marxist-Leninist activist since his youth, he emigrated from
Pakistan to London to study at Oxford. In the firmament of Marxist-Leninism,
Ali is a Stalinist, as such he was elected President of the Oxford Union.
“In 1967 Ali was one of 64 prominent
figures, including the Beatles, who signed a petition calling for the
legalisation of marijuana.[10] Ali's tenure at the Union included a meeting with Malcolm
X in December
1964 during which Malcolm X expressed deep consternation about his own risk of
assassination.”
He publicly debated Henry Kissinger about the Vietnam War,
and hobnobbed with Malcolm X, John Lennon, Yoko Ono, and Stokely Carmichael.

Blogger, the son of a Trotskyite, has never spoken to Tariq Ali, but I have
been in the same hall with him, and watched others interact with him.
The
key to Tariq Ali is that he is over endowed with all the worse qualities of both
an upper class Pakistani and a Stalinist. As a British Pak, he is awesomely insufferable
(think Martin Bashir on insufferable steroids).
In
light of the Scottish Independence Referendum, it is well to note that Pakistan
was born in a bloodbath of Secession from India. Pakistan could be a viable
part, and peaceful part of a Super Super
Power today, the Republic of India except for the insufferable arrogance of Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Tariq Ali,
as an upper class Pakistani, has the vicious, violent traits of the antebellum
South Carolinian slave owning aristocracy; he has secession and violence in his genes and milieu. Since
secession from India, Pakistan has fought three wars with India, created the
Taliban to torment Afghanistan, violently
oppressed an independence movement in Bangladesh with war and war crimes,
developed the Islamic bomb,supported Kashmiri secession from India, and is
currently conducting three internal Civil Wars, one with the Pakistani Taliban, one with the Balochs in Balochistan and one in Karachi between descendants
of émigrés from what is now India and Pashtuns.
Upper
class Paks like turmoil and violence,and have no tolerance for tolerance and
peaceful co-existence. Tariq Ali maybe an atheist, but with empirical surety, all of us can say he is an upper
class Pak.
As
a Stalinist-Marxist-Leninist who adores the Castro Brothers and their Cuban Revolution,
he supported the Castros arresting and
sending all of Cuba’s Gays to concentration camps on the Isla de la Juventud.
There
was a reason, Tariq Ali, the insufferable Pak Stalinist wanted an independent
Scotland; an independent Scotland would have had a population of only 5.5
million people, with a diminished police force and no army. And no immigration
controls. An independent, defenseless Scotland would have enabled, empowered, Tariq Ali to flood Scotland with Pak Stalinists right at the border of England.
Castro Stalinist Cuba is 90 miles from
the United States, a Pak Stalinist Scotland would have been specifically on the
border of England.
Tariq
Ali wanted an independent Scotland so he could have his own country, on England’s
border, to wreak havoc. Within Scotland’s
first year of existence, Tariq Ali would have flooded it with one million
fellow Pakistanis; within the second year, one hundred thousand Muslim fanatics
to serve as foot soldiers to his revolution(per Eric Hoffer's belief that fanatical True Believers will fight for any totalitarian regime); within three years 10,000
Stalinist cadres to rule his Pak Stalinist People’s Republic of Scotland. All this ruin brought to Scotland, by a Pak Stalinist, born in Pakistan, living in London.
With
the pro-Independent YES vote surging, Tariq Ali, smelling blood, became personally, actively involved.
He
held, led a Secession rally in Kirkcaldy,
Scotland. That rally doomed the YES/SECESSION chances of victory in the
Referendum. Gordon Brown’s father, the Presbyterian Minister, preached at the
Church (the Kirk) in Kirkcaldy.
Tariq
Ali, in his insufferable, Pak Stalinist arrogance, rented the church at which
Gordon Brown’s father preached as a Christian minister, to stage a YES rally of his own. The Pak Atheist stood on sacred Christian
ground to denounce pro NO vote Gordon Brown and the United Kingdom. And as he denounced
Gordon Brown and British Scotland, this Pak Atheist ordered the playing of the
seminal Christian hymn, AMAZING GRACE, as musical accompaniment.
Tariq
Ali’s insufferable Pak Stalinism on holy Scottish Presbyterian ground was a Bridge
Too Far for the Scottish Presbyterian people.
The
BRAVEHEARTS of Scotland rose up and smacked down the bloody dreams of the Pak
Stalinist.
The
worst thing Scotland ever did to
Scotland was support Bonnie Prince Charlie at the Battle of Culloden; the best
thing Scotland ever did for Scotland was deny Bonnie Tariq Ali his place in Scottish
history.
